Our exciting artist-in-residence programme

We have some exciting details about our new artist-in-residence programme, as part of a new group-wide Elite In Residence series.

Taking place throughout 2019, renowned artist Tim Scott Bolton will host four events set amongst 1,065 acres of Capability Brown-landscaped gardens – the focal point of not only Luton Hoo, but the in-residence events too.

Tim Scott Bolton is a prominent landscape artist who has painted more than 60 Capability Brown landscapes and published a book of his paintings, ‘A Brush with Brown’ (2016), to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Brown’s birth. The artist’s work is held in many collections including Her Majesty the Queen’s, the National Trust and the private collection of Mrs J.Paul Getty.

Beginning on Monday 4th March, guests will enjoy an insightful introduction to the four-part programme at a Ladies Luncheon event, from 12 pm to 3 pm. Set in the stunning Mansion House, guests will enjoy a delicious three-course lunch and Tim Scott Bolton will be the guest speaker for the event. During a talk about his artistic appreciation of Luton Hoo’s Capability Brown designed gardens, Tim will also explore the history of Capability Brown and his notable landscapes, providing an inspirational taster of what is to come over the year.

Our next event takes place on Wednesday 29th May with Tim leading a fascinating walking tour around the beautiful gardens. Discover the inspiration behind many of Tim’s paintings, on a stroll through the vast grounds and soak up the grandeur and history. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious three-course luncheon in the gardens with Tim who will impart knowledge and tips on sketching and landscape painting.

An evening dinner and talk with Tim on Friday 12th July will be third in the series of events, also with the opportunity to feast on a delectable menu curated by the Wernher Restaurant’s head chef. Arrive at the Luton Hoo for a Champagne and canapés reception, before being seated for the gourmet dinner, complete with paired wines. An interesting Q&A session will follow, focusing on Tim's captivating travels and work.

Rounding up the artist-in-residence programme, guests are invited to a Champagne exhibition of Tim's works, on Friday 25th October. Also an opportunity to celebrate International Artist’s Day, the fabulous event will include an exclusive exhibition of Tim’s works.

Tickets to the artist-in-residence events range from £20 to £95 per person.

Elite In Residence events will be taking place throughout the year at all four Elite hotels - Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, The Grand Eastbourne and Tylney Hall Hotel & Gardens.
