Taste the Best of Burgundy at Luton Hoo
Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa is offering diners the chance to sample the very best French wines without having to cross the Channel.
The hotel’s series of gourmet events continues on Saturday, February 27th, with a Burgundy evening featuring wines from the historic and prestigious house of Louis Jadot. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, and with its headquarters in the heart of Beaune, the vineyards of Maison Louis Jadot are now scattered across 154 hectares of Burgundy, from the Côte d’Or to the Mâconnais and down into Beaujolais.
Beginning with a reception, the white and red wines selected for the rest of the evening will complement with a menu created by Luton Hoo’s Executive Chef Kevin Clark. Guest speaker Frederic Monnery, representing Louis Jadot, will talk about the wines that have become a respected favourite with sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine merchants, importers and wine lovers around the world.
“Burgundy is synonymous with quality wine and, like Champagne, can only be called Burgundy if it comes from a specific region and is made from certain grapes,” said Thomas Garlich, who is Deputy General Manager at Luton Hoo, Hotel Golf & Spa. “Whether guests are wine experts or novice wine enthusiasts, the evening will give them the opportunity will enable diners to sample some of Louis Jadot’s top wines, including a 1er, or Grand Cru, which will be served with a selection of French cheeses.”
The evening, which includes the cocktail reception, four-course dinner, fine wines, coffee and petit fours and talk, costs £75 per person. To make a night of it the hotel is offering a special wine dinner overnight package for £150 per person, including the gourmet evening, accommodation and full English breakfast, based on double room occupancy.
