The Wernher restaurant is named after Sir Julius Wernher who bought Luton Hoo in 1903 and transformed the property into a country seat befitting one of the richest men in the land. Sir Julius made his fortune in diamonds and the restaurant that bears his name is no less of a jewel amongst restaurants in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and beyond. Under the guidance and creative inspiration of Executive Chef, Kevin Clark, the Wernher Restaurant has been awarded two coveted AA Rosettes, and continues to forge an unrivalled reputation for creating exciting dishes with a modern twist using British sourced produce. Together with a wine list that has
been carefully chosen to compliment the cuisine, you have all the ingredients for a memorable and unique dining experience. And as if the award-winning cuisine wasn’t enough, few restaurants can compete with the dining room itself, which is resplendent with eye-popping floor to ceiling marble panels, glittering chandeliers and heavy drapes that frame windows which afford sweeping views of the grounds. It is said that when Sir Julius bought Luton Hoo he spent half of his lavish refurbishment budget on the two rooms that today make up this award-winning restaurant. Today, it exists purely to offer you a dining experience like no other.
