Behind the Scenes at Luton Hoo

Before I started working here a year ago I didn’t realise just how many people, with every imaginable skill, it actually takes to run a 5 star hotel.

There are Porters and Receptionists, the Concierge who are the just a mine of information, not only do they know everything about the hotel but all the local attractions too, Housekeeping, Chefs who create the wonderful food in our restaurants, Sommeliers, Conference & Banqueting Teams and of course the Spa, Golf and Leisure teams over in the Country Club.

Outside, the 1,065 acres of grounds and parkland (which includes a golf course) keeps the talents of the Estates team, Green Keepers and Gardeners very busy all year round. I have to pinch myself sometimes as I drive into work along the long main drive, especially when I get my first glimpse of the Mansion House through the trees.

A full year has passed since I started working at Luton Hoo and I have witnessed all the changes in the seasons, come rain or shine the hotel and estate always looks stunning thanks to the teams of people that work here. It’s particularly lovely at the moment with the autumn colours, and a pheasant or partridge at every turn. Who would have ever thought that just a few minutes from the M1 motorway you could be on this amazing historical country estate?
